Note: It is a good practice to create a backup of the template file before making any modifications.

  8. Go to Weld table and copy the text and table rows by using right click context menu and paste it above to define it separately for assigning colors. See image below.

  9. Select text and edit and rename it to WELDID. See image below.

  10. Select bubble and click on element information icon  .

  11. Modify the circle and assign desired color, line weight etc. See image below.

  12. Similarly modify the Text by selecting line inside the circle and pressing element information icon.  .

  13. From Task bar, Place Fence using fence type as Block, and Fence mode as Inside and click on ‘Create Cell’ Option. See images below.

Note: user need to define cell template using ‘Create Cell’ option to be able to use further.

  14. From ‘Create Cell’ option, defined cell Name as WELDID, and add description as shown in below image.

Note: It is recommended to use ‘Custom.cel’ from cell library, as the changes will retain in one separate file and it will not alter standard cell file lisocomp.cel which will allow user to use the custom.cel file for other project by copying it from one project location to another. By default it does not contain any information. To create a new cell file, copy paste the custom.cel file and type the name at first place in style.cfg in order to search the library at first, as mentioned in below image.

  15. Click on OK and Exit Seed file.

To Overwrite Revision in OpenPlant Isometrics Manager.

Background

In OpenPlant Isometrics Manager, while working without connecting to ProjectWise, below are the procedures to overwrite the revisions by modifying the Isometric configuration option in OpenPlant Isometrics Manager.

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Launch OpenPlant isometrics Manager and open ‘Isometrics Configuration’.

  2. From ‘General’ option, set the ‘Overwrite Isometrics if not logged into ProjectWise ‘to ‘True’. This option determines how isometric files are created when user process an iso sheet from the IsoSheet Grid, more than once. Selecting a ‘False’ Value would generate isometrics in each revision. By default, the value for this option is blank (which assumes a ‘False’ value.)

Note - When option set to ‘True’, if user reprocess an iso from the IsoSheet Grid more than once, it will overwrite the original iso instead of creating a revision copy of it.

If option set to False, if user process an iso more than once, revision copies will be created instead of overwriting the existing iso.  The revision names will have numbers appended to them. (For example:  if the original isometric is name Isometrics.dgn, the subsequent isos will be named Isometrics.r001.dgn, Isometrics.r002.dgn etc.).

Introduction

This article will explain how pick list can be created for an EC Property using external datasource definition. In this article, we will work on creating pick list on DEVICE_TYPE_CODE property on VALVE class where values will be queried from an MDB file. The example of an MDB file is shown below:

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Open class editor and load OpenPlant_PID schema.
  2. Supplement it with OpenPlant_PID_Supplemental_Imperial schema.
  3. Go to VALVE class and switch to properties tab.
  4. Select DEVICE_TYPE_CODE property and add "External Datasource Definition Mapping" custom attribute on it.

    A. Key-in the MDB file name here.
    B. This configuration variable defines the location of database file (*.mdb file) in OPPID and by default it points to C:\ProgramData\Bentley\PowerPID (SELECTseries 5)\WorkSpace\Projects\<Project_Name>\Dataset\settings folder. You can change the location as per requirement.
    C. Column name in database. You need to right click on Property Mapping field and select "Add Element" option to be able to edit it.
    D. EC Property Name which is mapped with database column.
  5. Now add the Extend Type custom attribute and add 'ShowPickListviewDataBase' value in the Name field as shown below

  6. Save the changes in schema and close the class editor.

Verify the Result

  1. Launch OpenPlant PID and create a new drawing.
  2. Place a valve in the drawing. Placement dialog will open.
  3. Select the device type code property and click drop down button, you will see the list as shown below:

Note: Default value is HV which is coming from the "Property Custom Attribute" defined on FLUID_REGULATOR" class. Either you can change it or remove it if you don't want this value to be shown up when you place the valve.

Introduction

When inserting the assemblies in the drawing does not include Pipelines, loops etc. which used to work in the earlier versions. This is because since last release build (08.11.10.523) the selection process has changed for the components which are not graphical but compound in nature such as Pipelines, Loops. While the assembly creation procedure remains the same but you need to select the logical groups (Pipelines, Instrument Loops) with some additional steps before creating an assembly which are given below.

Steps to Follow

  1. Select the components in the drawing and right click.

  2. From Context menu select 'Select Parent(s) Advanced' option.

  3. Select the pipelines in the dialog box shown below and click Select button.

  4. Now you can carry on with the assembly creation process as usual.

To modify Numbering sequences for Spools, Welds & Cut ID.

Background

In OpenPlant Isometrics Manager, as per project requirement by user, the numbering sequences for various entities like SPOOLID, WELDID or CUTID required to change from Numerical to Numbering or Vice versa. Below steps illustrates the steps to obtain the converted numbering sequences. It can be experienced using both OpenPlant modeler and AutoPlant Modeler. This has been shown in context with OpenPlant Modeler and OpenPlant Isometrics Manager. However similar approach could be utilized for AutoPLANT modeler and OpenPlant Isometrics Manager, with checking the style folder with different storage paths.

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Launch OpenPlant Isometrics Manager.

  2. Select Project unit, say OPModeler_Metric here and click OK. See image below:

  3. Click on ‘Configuration’ Icon to launch Isometric configuration dialog box.

  4. From Isometric configuration dialog box, select ‘Advanced’ node and click on ‘Explore Style Configuration’ option to allow user to navigate to the style folder.

  5. Select IFC folder and open style.cfg file for customization.

Note: For OpenPlant Modeler, user can navigate the path location as %Projectroot%....\WorkSpace\Projects\OPModeler_Metric\DataSet\ Isometrics\Styles\IFC\Config.
For AutoPLANT Modeler, user can navigate the path location as %Projectroot%...\Plant V8i\Bentley Plant V8i Projects\SAMPLE_METRIC\Config\OpenPlant\Isometrics\Styles\IFC\Config

  6. Check for variables. See image below. The default value has been set for all 3 types.

  7. For example changing the variable IE_FMT_CUTID = N will produce isometrics with numerical numbering for CUTID. See Image below.

Note – Sorting can be done using report.def file. Please check See Also section for similar issue discussed there on sorting.

  8. For example changing the variable IE_FMT_SPOOLID = A will produce isometrics with character sequence for SPOOLID. See Image below.

  9. For example changing the variable IE_FMT_WELDID = N will produce isometrics with numerical sequence for WELDS. See Image below.

In OpenPlant Isometrics Manager new attributes will get added in PCF file.

Background

In OpenPlant Isometrics Manager, PCF file will be generated for other systems software and hence it is required to have desired attributes inside the PCF file. Below steps illustrates adding the new attributes inside the file.

Steps to Resolve

  1. Launch OpenPlant Isometrics Manager.

  2. Select Unit and generate isometrics.

  3. From ‘IsoExtractor’ tool menu, click on Drawing Tag Data option.

  4. Check for attributes which is need to add in PCF file. E.g WALL_THICKNESS.

Note: Attribute present inside the drawing tag can only be read in PCF file.

  5. Now add the same variable inside the PCF.INI file. It can be found under isometrics configurable folder under particular style.

Path to follow the default style IFC:
    C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenPlantModeler V8i\WorkSpace\Projects\ OPModeler_Metric\DataSet\Isometrics\Styles\IFC\config

  6. Add under Header specification as shown in below image for two attributes, namely WALL_THICKNESS and NUMBER.
